Marks: On the verso side of the painting's frame in the upper left corner of the frame is a red (possibly in paint) accession number "39.046"; in the lower right corner of the verso frame are white chalk marks possibly making the numbers "9281"; on the upper verso strainer is a series of pencil in script lower case possibly spelling out " K I S T" and located beneath these letters are the numbers "1 1 1" underlined three times; located on the brace in the center in blue marker (possibly dark blue pencil) are the letters "K I" and a third mark that is covered by a label; on the canvas are several white chalk markings, the legible of which is located in the lower right corner, and can possibly be the number "6".
Label: In the upper left corner of the verso frame: faded and ripped label "WA...ATHENEUM" determined to say Wadsworth Atheneum, although the label is missing a center piece; peaking out from other athenaeum label is the number "46";also in the upper left corner of the verso frame are a white label with the writing "Royal Academy of Arts" (this label is from 2001); a red accession number is located in paint below the white label; on the bottom of the outer verso frame is a label from the Koninklijk Museum; in the upper left corner of the verso frame is an octagonal label inscribed with the number "4778" and an unfinished word: "ANDAISE", below this unfinished word is an illegible incomplete word; to the right of the octagonal label is a rectangular label with beveled corners and a red border, this label is inscribed with the number "8979"on the verso side on the vertical brace in the center is a white label turned on its corner, inscribed with "Stedelijk Museum"/ "agt prinsenhof"/ "delft" /"3036".
