Crafting the Photography for the Book Artist/Rebel/Dandy

Men of Fashion
Handwritten tribute from Richard Merkin to musician Bobby Short inside the catalog for Merkin's first New York gallery show, "The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of." The catalog accompanied a 1967 letter (on vintage letterhead) from Richard Merkin to musician Bobby Short, expressing Merkin's esteem for Short and his music, and inviting him to come see the exhibition. "Two Boots" and Four Portraits

The RISD Museum’s 2009 acquisition of the Richard Brown Baker collection included two drawings by the English artist Howard Selina—Cowboy Hat (1974) and Two Boots (1974)—carefully and precisely rendered drawings in graphite on paper of well-worn, utilitarian garments.
