Fernando Mondragón, born in Monterrey, Mexico, is a Providence, RI based artist and entrepreneur. He began practicing as a painter and writer after he moved to Rhode Island, and he works primarily with pastel oil, ink and charcoal. His work explores human experiences. As a painter, he transposes common figures such as plants, human eyes, or mythological creatures over different backgrounds to examine them as symbols and for their association to emotions and experiences. As an entrepreneur and researcher, he has worked in various professional domains, investigating how information artifacts are designed and their shortcomings to serve experiences. He earned a PhD in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
