Faculty Workshop
About
Join Jane’a Johnson, curator of Past Made Present: Dutch Shadows in the Black Atlantic, to learn about the exhibition and discuss ways of utilizing its content and topics in your curriculum. In the spirit of the Afro-diasporic intellectual tradition, Past Made Present traces the long and relatively unacknowledged shadow the Dutch cast over early modern history and art history, addressing self-presentation, wealth production, portraiture, and personhood. Jane’a Johnson is Artistic Director at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam and former RISD Assistant Professor of Theory of Art + Design and research fellow at the Center for Social Equity and Inclusion (SEI).
Registration requested. This event has been rescheduled from October 28. Dr. Johnson will be joining us virtually, but the event will take place in the galleries to allow for discussion of the exhibition. Please meet in the exhibition, on the museum's third floor.
Students are encouraged to attend the conversation for students at 1 pm on Thursday, December 1.
