About
James Falzone, a 2016 RISD Museum Artist Fellow, presents "Panfried."
Composed for piano and electronics in 2001 by Phill Niblock, a New York-based composer and multi-media artist, "Panfried" is played with individual nylon strings tied to multiple piano strings. Rosined fingers sound the strings with the sustain pedal held down.
"Panfried" is typically presented using purely pre-recorded sound; this performances marks the first time it is performed by a live soloist.
