Collections in Conversation

Victorian-era spaces and objects encourage close looking and expansive discussion among participants and educators from Lippitt House Museum and the RISD Museum. Learn about the elaborate social rituals and “parlor politics” activism practiced by 19th century women. Join this new program collaboration and explore two local museum collections from the comfort of home.

Collections in Conversation takes advantage of virtual exploration to bring together objects from the RISD Museum and other collections in the region. Selected pieces are closely viewed and compared with facilitation by educators from the RISD Museum and the collaborating institution. Historical and contextual information is shared in support of questions and observations.
