Sally Kevill-Davies speaks about the English passion for naturalistic landscape gardening that arose in the 1750's and how the Chelsea porcelain factory responded to this interest by producing wares painted with images of the imported shrubs and trees. Dukes, Earls and Viscounts purchased these products to reflect the new plants at their tables.
Ms. Kevill-Davies holds a Master of Arts Degree in Historic Interiors and Decorative Arts from the University of Buckingham. She worked at Sotheby's in London as a ceramics specialist with a special interest in eighteenth-century English porcelain. She has worked on a number of museum exhibitions, has contributed to numerous books and articles on ceramics and various aspects of the decorative arts and lectured widely on many aspects of porcelain. She appeared for nine years as a ceramics specialist on BBC TV's Antiques Roadshow.
