Member Behind the Scenes in the Egyptian Collection
About
Join curator of Ancient Art, Gina Borromeo, and conservator, Ingrid Neuman, for a members-only discussion of important aspects of the Egyptian collection, including a panel painting of the god Heron and the coffin of Nesmin, a priest who lived in Egypt nearly 2,300 years ago. The Heron panel is one of only four surviving panel paintings still in its original wooden frame and is on display at the Museum for the first time. Nesmin's coffin has been newly reinstalled and is now accompanied by a video that tells the story of its journey from Egypt to Providence and the images that are painted on it. Ask the experts your questions about the research and conservation work that went into the re-installation.
